It's Crunch Time!

The basic chassis is done and it has a good amount of driving time under its belt so to speak.
Here is the list of what's left and when it must be completed: (ALL are Close Of Business on the listed day)
Electronics Board - Thursday
Chairman's Award - Thursday
Website Award - Thursday
Kicker/Roller - Friday
Arm/Winch - Saturday
Practice Bot - Sunday
Crate/Ship - Monday

Now we need to break down each of these deadlines and designate teams to accomplish them. If/when setbacks occur there is one thing to do immediately... tell me. That way reassignments can be made as quickly as possible. Along the way we have many smaller tasks that must be accomplished so don't feel like you've been left out if your name is not listed. Also, do not be misled... when you finish your task you're NOT done, move on and help someone else. The rest of the bumpers need to be made, lexan skirting needs to be fabricated and installed under the robot frame to prevent ball penetration, the new stanchions have to be installed when they're received from ERAU, etc...

Electronics Board - Mr. Morrison, Jarrett K., Kyle S.
Chairman's Award - Team Captains, Katie I.
Website Award - Team Captains, James H.
Kicker/Roller - Coach U., Laura S.
Arm/Winch - Coach U., Josh P.
Practice Bot - Coach U., Matt K., Michael T.
Crate/Ship - ALL HANDS ON DECK (nautical for... everybody be there, it's a LOT of work.)

Mecanum Wheels

They work! Thanks to the programming of Paul Vitale we got these wheels working! They go over the bump and they spin and work well overall! Great job team!

Moderate Mess-up

Apparently six wheel design doesn't work that well. We made a bump simulating the kind we'd see at competition, and we could not pass it. It goes against my intuition, but I guess we'll have to change it up. Mecanum wheels are something interesting. Several videos online have sparked my interest into them.

Current Ideas

Right now, we're looking at a robot that cannot go under the tunnel, but can climb up, and a kicker design. We also are looking at six wheels and an apex design.
Arm design is currently in the air. Telescoping arm, ratcheting arm, or grappling hook (but seriously, grappling hook?).

FRC has Started!

Breakaway is quite interesting. The concept is interesting, and ideas are being passed quickly among the students. Seems to be a good start.

Calendar is up!

Keep watching. Up on the What's Coming Up

FIRST Starting Up Soon!

FRC is starting on January 6th. Be ready. Also, everybody needs to interview in order to get on the team. Contact me or Mrs. Urquhart to schedule.
